This steep cobbled street is at the heart of village life and where most of the action happens. Lined with independent shops, cafes, restaurants and traditional pubs, it’s the perfect place to start your Haworth adventure.

You’ll find everything from quirky gifts and antiques to cosy tearooms and bookshops.

Highlights include The Cabinet of Curiosities, a restored Victorian apothecary, and Spooks Bookshop, known for gothic and classic reads. Award winning bookshop Wave of Nostalgia stocks books and gifts with a creative twist.

Hawksbys showcases handmade art and ceramics, while Mrs Beighton’s Sweet Shop sells old-school sweets by the jar. And Chocolate of Haworth is perfect for Belgian truffles and Yorkshire-made treats.

From the top of Main Street, it’s just a couple of minutes’ walk to the Brontë Parsonage via Church Street.

Car parks are available at both the top and bottom of the village: just ask yourself if you’d rather walk up the hill first or save that leg workout for later!

No trip to Haworth is complete without visiting the former home of the Brontë sisters.

The Brontë Parsonage sits just behind the church on a quiet cobbled lane and houses the world’s largest collection of original Brontë artefacts.

Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë wrote many of their famous novels here, including Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. Inside, you’ll find family belongings, manuscripts, period furniture, and immersive exhibitions that bring their stories to life.

Another must for Brontë fans, St Michael and All Angels Church is where Patrick Brontë preached for over 40 years.

Several members of the Brontë family are buried here, and the church offers a peaceful space for reflection just beside the Parsonage.

Brontë Waterfall and Bridge

Take a 45-minute walk from the village to reach this scenic spot, often visited by the Brontë sisters themselves.

The bridge and small waterfall make for a peaceful picnic stop and offer a glimpse into the wild Yorkshire landscapes that shaped their writing.

For a longer walk, continue from the waterfall to Top Withens, a remote farmhouse ruin believed to have inspired Wuthering Heights.

This open expanse offers sweeping views of the moors and reservoir and is a favourite for local dog walkers, picnickers, and sunset seekers.

This area was chosen to host a series of art instillations to celebrate Bradford’s designation of City of Culture for 2025.
